Terms of Service

1Who this agreement is between

Between you, the account holder, and the operator of Yoke. By creating an account you accept these terms.

2What Yoke is

A tool for producing and tracking invoices, estimates, proposals and related documents, for one or more businesses under a single account, with data that syncs between your devices and works while offline.

It is a tool for recording and presenting what you decide. It is not an accountant, a bookkeeper, a tax adviser or a lawyer.

3Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in details to yourself. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.

You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live, and you must give us accurate account details.

4Your content stays yours

Everything you put into Yoke — your clients, your documents, your logos, your records — remains yours. We claim no ownership of it and no licence to it beyond what is needed to run the service for you: storing it, displaying it back to you, rendering it into PDFs and invoice pages, and sending it where you ask us to send it.

5What you may not do

Short list, and none of it should be a surprise:

• Use Yoke to defraud anyone, including issuing invoices for work or debts that do not exist.
• Upload malware, or use the service to attack it or anyone else.
• Try to break, overload, or work around the limits that protect the service and its other users.
• Use someone else's account, or resell access to yours.
• Break the law of the place you are operating in.

6Invoices, tax, and legal validity

This section matters more than its length suggests. Yoke calculates totals and taxes from the rates and rules you configure. It applies your numbers correctly; it does not know whether your numbers are the right ones.

Whether an invoice meets the legal and tax requirements of your country, your client's country, or your industry — the required fields, the numbering rules, the tax treatment, the retention obligations — is your responsibility to establish, and worth checking with someone qualified. We make no representation that a document produced by Yoke satisfies any particular jurisdiction's requirements.

The same applies to proposals and contracts you produce or sign through Yoke: the tool records agreement, it does not judge whether the agreement is enforceable.

7Availability

We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted. Maintenance happens, and so do outages.

One practical mitigation is built in: because Yoke works offline, an outage on our side does not stop you from working on your device. Your changes sync when it comes back.

8Price

Yoke is currently free to use. If we introduce paid plans, we will say so before they apply to you, and we will not start charging for an account without your explicit agreement.

9Ending this agreement

You can stop using Yoke at any time and ask us to delete your account by writing to support@byttech.org.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used for the things listed in section 5, or where we are required to by law. Except where the situation is serious or urgent, we will tell you why and give you an opportunity to retrieve your data.

10Disclaimer

Yoke is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it — not that it will be error-free, not that it will meet a particular need of yours, and not that any calculation it performs is correct for your legal or tax situation.

11Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for lost revenue arising from your use of Yoke.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and we will give notice of material changes rather than relying on you to re-read the page. Continuing to use Yoke after a change means you accept it; if you do not, you can close your account.

13Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the country in which the operator of Yoke is established. Any consumer-protection rights you have where you live are unaffected by that — nothing here takes away a right your local law gives you.
